在这种讨论中,我这个stata的初学者往往是一头雾水,老板很好人的安慰我"没关系的viva, you will get to learn this during summer"。 直到最近身边朋友问“ do you have family in the earthquake area?" May 13 All the people mentioned are my friendschicagotribuneSeriousness is lost and fun is found in University of Chicago scavenger huntLow-level celebrity, Las Vegas and an unusual wedding are part of the mixBy Jeff Long Tribune reporter 9:57 PM CDT, May 11, 2008 When you run into comedian Louie Anderson outside a Starbucks in Las Vegas, and you're a University of Chicago student seeking obscure and bizarre items during what's billed as "the world's largest scavenger hunt," naturally you're going to ask him to pose for a picture making an obscene hand gesture. And if he's a good sport, which he is, he'll oblige. Which he did. The university's 22nd annual scavenger hunt came to a close Sunday, a four-day race among nine teams to collect such items as half of a bowling ball or perform tasks such as "Mummify something. Properly, with documentation of each step." David Pisano, 21, a senior majoring in East Asian Languages and Civilizations, enjoys the hunt so much that he came back to Chicago last year from studying abroad in Japan to participate. This year he scored the picture of Anderson flashing the ribald hand signal outside the Vegas Starbucks. "At the University of Chicago, we work very hard," Pisano explained. "There's a lot of brain power going into academic problems. This allows us to take another kind of brain power and put it into frivolous, trivial but completely enjoyable tasks." One couple got married Sunday in a "Bedouin Wedding feast," using what team members said was a legitimate Cook County marriage certificate, by a teammate who got ordained online: "To have and to scav, to honor and to scav, as long as you both shall scav." "Well, I knew who she was," said Bruno Cabral, the 18-year-old freshman groom, referring to his teammate bride. Their marriage was worth 75 points. And the rules clearly say bonus points for a real wedding. They also say bonus points for real Bedouins. "Scavenger hunt brings out the love in everyone," said Priyanko Paul, the student who played the father of bride Clare Wolf. The clues are often cryptic and can be open to interpretation. Judges spent Sunday morning interpreting how creatively the teams succeeded, while worn-out competitors swapped stories. "All items on the list can be obtained and performed legally," the rules say. "It may involve some smooth talking, or it may involve something else, but it is all possible. The judges take no responsibility over your getting thrown into the clink." In a new twist to the hunt, one member from each team had to show up outside the university's Reynolds Club at 3:30 a.m. Thursday. "They must be alone, and they may not have any extraneous packages, bags or accessories," the teams were instructed. "And, since it will be late into the evening, the attire for this event is evening wear. Evening-wear with a bathing suit underneath." That's when Pisano and the other eight team representatives were taken to Midway Airport for an early-morning flight to Vegas. Besides looking for "D" list celebs to make obscene gestures, the scavengers tried to get pictures of themselves with contestants in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic International Model Search Swimsuit Competition. That's why bathing suits were needed. "I got my picture taken with Miss Estonia and Miss Virgin Islands," Pisano said. "Which was immensely satisfying. They're international swimsuit contestants. I had no complaints." To see the list of items and tasks for this year's hunt go to the Web site scavhunt1.uchicago.edu May 12 So as people asked mehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Chicago_Scavenger_Hunt scavhunt1.uchicago.edu/lists/list2008.pdf (The list) Uchicago Scav Hunt Snell-Hitchcock won by 700 points! FUCKIN YEAH (that's our cheers btw) On top of other things, I got Gary Becker to witness me signing the organ donor form. 盼Memorial Day阿 |
